WHO WE ARE
TIHRAD — the Triad Institute for Health Research and Development is a Nigerian nonprofit dedicated to understanding and improving health outcomes at the intersection of people, animals, and the environment.
We were founded on a simple but urgent conviction: that the biggest health threats of our time — drug-resistant infections, zoonotic diseases, climate-related illness, and chronic disease — cannot be solved in silos. They require researchers, communities, and policymakers working across disciplines, across sectors, and across borders.
At the heart of our work is a strong commitment to microbial science, public health research, and evidence driven advocacy. We believe that understanding microbes, their interactions with humans, animals, and the environment, and the systems that shape disease transmission is essential to building healthier and more resilient communities. We are a youth led organization, and that matters to us.
It means we bring fresh energy, intellectual curiosity, and a genuine stake in the future we are working to build. Our team spans pharmacy, microbiology, epidemiology and biostatistics, public health, global health, microbial sciences, and health policy. We are registered under Nigerian law as a Company Limited by Guarantee, with all proceeds reinvested into our mission. TIHRAD is building the kind of research and advocacy institution that African public health needs: rigorous in science, grounded in communities, and unafraid to ask difficult questions.
