TIHRAD did not begin as an institution. It began with a shared realization.
Across different fields, a group of young Nigerian health professionals kept arriving at the same conclusion: the health challenges they cared most about, including antimicrobial resistance, zoonotic diseases, and health inequities, were deeply interconnected, yet they were too often being addressed in isolation. Research efforts rarely crossed disciplinary boundaries. Important findings were being published, but they were not consistently reaching the communities, practitioners, or policymakers who needed them most.
From that shared recognition, TIHRAD was born, formally incorporated in June 2025 under the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (RC Number: 8540716). Headquartered in Ilorin, Kwara State, TIHRAD has since grown into an active research and advocacy organization with an expanding portfolio of peer-reviewed publications, community-based programs, and national and international collaborations. We are still at an early stage in our journey, but the work and the impact have already begun.
