TIHRAD did not begin as an institution — it began as a shared frustration.
A group of young Nigerian health professionals kept arriving at the same conclusion across their different fields: that the health challenges they cared most about — antimicrobial resistance, zoonotic disease, health inequity — were being studied in fragments, not as the interconnected problems they actually are. Research was happening, but rarely crossing disciplinary lines. Findings were being published, but rarely reaching the communities or the policymakers who needed them most.
Out of that recognition, TIHRAD was born — formally incorporated in June 2025 under the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (RC Number: 8540716). Headquartered in Ilorin, Kwara State, TIHRAD has since grown into an active research and advocacy organization with a growing body of peer-reviewed publications, community programs, and national and international partnerships. We are still early in our journey. But the work has already started.
