About us
Our Story
The Triad Institute of Health, Research and Development Ltd/Gte (TIHRAD) stands as a legally registered, non-profit organization incorporated under Part C of the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. TIHRAD emerges as a dynamic, youth-led initiative committed to revolutionizing the landscape of public health through a holistic and interdisciplinary lens.
Our foundation is rooted in the understanding that the health of humans, animals, and the environment is interconnected—a principle we uphold through the globally endorsed One Health approach. Founded by a consortium of visionary professionals and advocates from diverse disciplines, TIHRAD was born out of a pressing need to tackle systemic health challenges through integrated research, innovation, and action. These challenges include the rise of antimicrobial resistance, the spread of zoonotic diseases, climate-related health vulnerabilities, and the growing burden of non-communicable diseases. By addressing these threats at their intersections, we aim to develop sustainable, locally-adapted solutions that are both scientifically sound and socially relevant.
At TIHRAD, we believe that evidence must lead action, and action must be inclusive. Our programs are designed not only to generate knowledge but to empower communities, influence policy, and strengthen health systems. We are deeply committed to ethical research, participatory methodologies, and the equitable distribution of health benefits. As a youth-led organization, we bring fresh perspectives, digital fluency, and a bold commitment to reimagining health equity. We invest in the next generation of health leaders through mentorship, internship, fellowships, and capacity-building, ensuring that the torch of innovation continues to burn brightly.

Organization Structure
Organizational Identity As a Company Limited by Guarantee (Ltd/Gte), TIHRAD is authorized to operate as a non-profit without share capital, ensuring that all proceeds are reinvested in the organization’s mission to improve public health outcomes. Founded by a passionate cohort of young, multidisciplinary professionals, TIHRAD embodies a new wave of leadership in global health—fusing science, systems thinking, and community-driven solutions to address Nigeria’s most urgent and emerging health challenges. Our identity is shaped by a trio of globally validated models that guide our theory of change and operational strategy:
One Health – Recognizing the dynamic interconnectedness between human, animal, and environmental health, and advancing integrated interventions across sectors.
Planetary Health – Emphasizing the relationship between ecological systems and long-term human well-being in the face of climate change, urbanization, and biodiversity loss.
Eco-Health – Applying ecological principles and community engagement to design sustainable, inclusive, and culturally sensitive health solutions.
